NT has achieved an agreement in continuing to provide telecommunications network to The Erawan Sources.


NT has achieved a telecommunications network service agreement, including the provision of information technology support for the Erawan Natural Gas Production Sources, ensuring smooth, secure, and effective operations.


High-speed and precise communications from offshore natural gas production rigs in the Gulf of Thailand is critical. Mr. Somyot Tanapirunthorn, Senior Executive Vice President, Marketing, National Telecom Public Company Limited stated that, “NT is proud to have been providing telecommunications service to the Erawan Sources (plot 10-13) to Chevron Survey (Chevron Thailand) for a long time. We installed underwater fiber optics in the Gulf of Thailand, specially designed for modern communications to support the growing needs of the nation’s natural gas and petroleum survey and production operations. The installation can smoothly, securely, and effectively carry out communications between onshore headquarters and offshore operations. As such, Chevron Thailand is able to communicate and exchange information between onshore and offshore operations at a speed equivalent to working at onshore offices. Moreover, by using the underwater fiber optics, the information technology can enable research and development of innovation in energy production and supports energy production for electricity generation for homes and industries. The quality of natural gas from the Erawan Sources can be used as raw material for petrochemical industries and other related industries, leading to sustainable economic development of the country.”

In the event that Chevron Thailand will hand-over the Erawan Natural Gas Sources to the new operator in April 2022, NT, being a co-developer and supporter of the underwater fiber optics telecommunications network, is ready to continue the operations and support the transfer of the Erawan Sources through the use of information technology and effective communication networks as before, to allow efficient operations at the Erawan Sources.
